A.S.D. Lago d’Orta Sports & Events is an association founded in 2015 in Miasino (Novara - Italy), a little village on the hills of Orta Lake, in the province of Novara.
Chaired by Stefano Falciola was created to promote sport activity, to organize sports and recreational events of high quality and to value the land surrounding the Lake Orta, which offers its beautiful scenery beyond national borders.
In 2015 A.S.D. Lago d'Orta Sports & Events has launched the Swim Challenge was created specifically to realize, in Italy and abroad, great swimming events that represent real Challenges, with distances typical of a swimming marathon (10 km and over).
The project takes off in 2016 with two special and unique events, scheduled on Lake of Orta, northern Italy basin located about an hour away from Milan and close to the airport of Malpensa (40 km), Linate (95 km), Bergamo - Orio al Serio (120 km) and Turin - Caselle (124 km).
The first event is the historic crossing of the lake in its entirety, first called Traverlonga, then Oceanman Lago d’Orta and from 2020 TRITON Lago d’Orta (6th edition); the second is the complete swimming tour of the lake (27 km), first called Lago d'Orta Marathon Swim and from 2020 ULTRA TRITON Lago d'Orta.
The historic swimming event that represents the crossing of Lake Orta in its entirety, has seen its name change over the years. In 2009 it was born as Traverlonga Lago d’Orta, then became Lago d’Orta Summer Swimming in 2014 and Oceanman Lago d’Orta in 2015 until 2019.
The new era that starts in 2020 sees the launch of the new name: TRITON Lago d'Orta.
A.S.D. Lago d'Orta Sports & Events has thought of a strong name that could identify every swimming events organized by the association but also not only swimming events. Here is TRITON, to recall the mythological marine god, one of the sons of Poseidon. Half man and half fish, he is represented armed with a trident, a symbol that becomes the new logo combined with the name Triton.
TRITON will be combined with all the events starting from the 14, 4.5 and 1.3 km crossing of Lake Orta up to the 27 km Marathon. The first will be called Triton Lake Orta while the second Ultra Triton lake Orta.
